Why do you need my mobile number to set up 2FA?

We need your mobile number to verify your identity and your association with the phone that you are using to authenticate via 2FA.

We also need your number in case you're unable to use the authenticator app. If this happens you can request your code to be sent via SMS but for security reasons we will only send it to the mobile number we have associated with your WriteUpp username/password.
