How do you record consent?
We adopt the same approach in WriteUpp as we do with our NHS products.
There are a number of ways consent can be recorded in WriteUpp:
When you create an assessment in the Form Builder, you should add a checkbox at the start or end of the form saying something along the lines of "Patient Consent Granted". This can then be checked as and when the patient gives you consent during the assessment.
You can also add a Signature field for recording consent in assessments.
Its somewhat less common to record consent when writing notes (largely because it's often already been done in the initial assessment), but if it is required, we would recommend adding a comment at the end of your notes saying "Patient Consent Granted".
This model is employed in the six major NHS Trusts that we work with and in all cases has satisfied internal governance and auditability requirements.
You can of course also use the consent portal in WriteUpp to easily obtain consent from a patient. Read more about that here.
