WriteUpp – Part Payments are here! (Desktop v2.05.28)

Today’s update marks the resumption of normal service for us here at WriteUpp. During the past nine months we’ve been doggedly assessing the GDPR situation and rolling out tools to try and help make your life easier as this important piece of legislation came into effect but now we’re back on the exciting stuff and we’ve got lots coming your way!
First up is part payments. This is something that we’ve been asked for a lot and its taken some doing but we’ve gotten there and I really hope you like what we’ve done. If you don’t take part payments please read on as there are a few minor changes that impact you but rest assured there are plenty of other goodies coming down the track!

New Features

Part Payment

Where might you use Part Payment?

We’ve tried to make the Part Payment functionality as flexible as possible but here are a few examples of areas where we think part payments will help you:

  1. Insurance Excess
  2. Phased Payments
  3. Solicitors Fees

How do I record a payment?

Now, when you raise an invoice you will notice that we have made a minor tweak to the buttons at the bottom of the screen. Previously you saw three buttons, as below:

now you will see four:

Where you clicked on “MARK AS PAID” to record that an invoice had been paid in full you will now click on “PAY IN FULL”. From there the workflow is EXACTLY the same as it was before.
However, if you want to record a part payment you just need to click on “PART PAY” and you will be taken to a completely new workflow specifically for recording part payments which looks like this:

Clicking on the “ADD PAYMENT” button will then allow you to start adding part payments. It’s that easy!

Invoices

If an invoice is part paid an extra section is added to the invoice identifying who paid, and what they paid, see below:

Finance->Invoices

With the addition of Part Payments we’ve made a small number of amendments to the Finance->Invoices business view, see below:

Next of Kin in “Payable by” Dropdown

If you specify a Next of Kin in your patient’s record you can now select them as the person that will pay an invoice. Previously, only the client and 3rd parties appeared. See below where Mary Appleseed is John’s wife:

Improvements

Remapped Provider Codes (Healthcode)

The insurer ID’s BCW and PRU are being discontinued and so for existing users with these codes already set up we are remapping them to PPP and SLH respectively. For new users, if you attempt to use these codes you will be prompted to use PPP and SLH instead.

Visual Indicator added to “Save & Continue” for Assessments

There is now a small spinner in the “Save & Continue” button to visually indicate that the assessment is saving.

Nigeria Country Code

For our lovely clients in Nigeria we’ve added +234 to the list of available country codes in desktop and online booking.

13.5% VAT for Ireland

We’ve added the 13.5% reduced VAT rate that is used by some practitioners in Ireland

Bug Fixes

  • Resolved transient patient merge issues
  • Resolved logout issue in the Form Builder
  • Resolved issue with non-patient appointments in the mobile app
